How to Fix Scratches on Hardwood Floors Quickly & Easily

People who have  hardwood floors tend to love them. Many houses we  install hardwood flooring  into have the floors put into (almost) every room. They look pretty and are easy to keep clean; the usual maintenance is vacuuming, quick wet mop, and fixing small scratches.

Although scratches are not something you usually have with tile or carpet…. So how do you fix these problems quickly & easily so you don’t have to have bad floors or pay to redo them? Here’s how.

  1. The first thing to know is that if you get a scratch from furniture, the scratch is likely not deep at all and does not require any sanding. Simply clean and vacuum the spot of the scratch.
  2. Dip a cotton swab in some polyurethane and lightly rub the swab over the scratch until it is covered. Only put the poly on the scratch, don’t make a bigger area to cover.
  3. Be careful to not put too much poly on the swab or it will be difficult to know when it dries.
  4. Work in small sections at a time to ensure best accuracy.
  5. Let it dry. You’re done!

You can also find putty or use a crayon to quick, immediate fixes on small scratches if you do not want to use the poly method. Make sure the colors match.
